The Intuit web site states that Quicken 2007 has been tested on Vista and there are no Know issues. This is NOT true, the software works in some instances but for all intents and purposes on my system it doesn't work at all.
Details: Quicken intstalled on my Windows Vista Business edition withoug incident. Quicken requires registration and the registration process fails consistently. Since I cannot register, I cannot go on-line to my financial institution. Quicken 2007 REFUSES to remember the current file and every time I start Quicken, I must tell it manually and specifially which file to open. Attempts to backup using the Quicken softwqre the backup fails saying that it cannot open the source file.
I am sure there are MANY other apects of the program that also do not work properly under Vista, but the above listed ones are enough to prevent me totally from trying to use the system. I contacted Quicken chat support and they stated clearly that Vista was not supported but they were working on it. I pointed out that the Intuit web site said that Quicken 2007 was OK for Vista and they said no it is not. The cannot/willnot help and I'm told I have to wait for developmental changes.
As of this moment, Quicken 2007 does not work (for me) in a Vista Business environment amd Intuit is of absoulutely no help in making it work. It seems to me that their 'testing' under Vista may have consisted of showing the Vista box to the developers and little if anything more. 2007-02-08 10:13:51 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista 64 Bit (x8664). When I am logged on as a standard user, I experience the same problems as others here. I have to tell it that I am already a Quicken user, thatI have a data file on the PC, and then tell it where the file is located. When I try to update my accounts using One Step Update, the 'Quicken Launcher' crashes, and that's all she wrote.
It looks to me that Quicken cannot run properly as a standard user, and instead requires the logged on user to be an admin. 2007-02-19 11:25:56 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista. I am running Quicken 2007 with Vista Ultimate Edition. I am running into some problems with online services.
I cannot download my transactions from my banking institutions. When I click on update nothing happens.(It looks like the process just hangs).
I called customer Support (Intuit) and they said they wouldn't support Quicken with Vista as it had not been tested.) I was running it fine with Vista RC1 and RC2. I have however found that if I go to the website directly from IE I can download the transactions and then they are automatically entered into quicken. I am also having other problems on the bank site itself. But I believe they are related to Vista and not to Intuit. 2007-03-04 10:10:07 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista.
Windows Vista Ultimate. Quicken 2007 is very quirky. Do not under any circumstances apply the R4 patch on Vista Ultimate.
After it takes 20 full minutes of spinning(!) - on a 3ghz machine with 2gb ram(!) - the very first download from your bank results in need to accept downloaded transactions, but none appear in the register to accept(!) Worse, either the R4 update or the initial conversion of your 2006 files to 2007 format corrupts your c: users folder's security settings, all the way down through all the hundreds of subfolders. The R4 patch you can manually download has exactly the same problems as the automatic one. The only safe way and I don't know how safe it really is, to use 2007 with Vista Ultimate is to take a system checkpoint, install 2007 WITHOUT accepting the R4 patch, convert your 2006 files, then restore the system checkpoint (to get your security settings back), then uninstall 2007 completely, then reinstall it WITHOUT the R4 patch. 2007-03-06 08:45:23 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista. Uninstall 2007 completely.
Then download the Microsoft Install cleanup utility. Run it and remove any Quicken entries. The hung-up install is what's causing you to be unable to run it. Now boot the system and re-install 2007. DO NOT ACCEPT THE 'LATEST UPDATE' offering.
2007 will install and you can use it. The R4 patch applied by 'latest update' doesn't work with Vista Ultimate. Read the entry above about security corruption in the users folder and how to avoid it. 2007-03-16 11:18:57 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista.
Can't get Quicken to print to two separate HP Printers (Photosmart 8150 and PSC1210). Had no problems running under 32 bit Vista Ultimate.
![]()
Did a clean install of 64 bit Vista Ultimate, loaded Quicken 2007 and can't get anything to print. The printer actually grabs the paper and advances to the top of the page and then just sits there. Technical support was no help.
Had me trying to emulate other HP printers and yes, even some printers from other manufactures (like that was going to work). Has anyone else had similar problems? Seems strange that everything would work fine with 32 bit Vista Ultimate and not with 64 bit. 2007-03-19 18:55:30 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista 64 Bit (x8664). Windows Vista Premium has made my Quicken 2007 program useless. Even when I start the program with 'run as administrator', I get the start up menu and have to go through an install. Then it refuses to take updates even when I save the web connect file to the desktop and import.
With Windows XP, neither of these problems occurred. Luckily for me, I have an old, slower computer with XP so I can continue to use my Quicken.
Hopefully, this will get resolved by 2008, and I can then switch to my new computer. I am not impressed with the quality of help given by Intuit either over the phone or with the online chat. Since these problems are so pervasive, you would think they would have been able to come up with a fix by now, or at least inform the user that this is a problem that many users are having. 2007-03-30 08:58:49 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista.
Vist Ultimate and Quicken 2007 were not made for each other. Here the issue I have internet connection and when I click update (connection for bank not for R4) I get no internet connection detected box. When I click ignore the box pops back up I click ignore again and it connects to my bank and download. I wrote this on the quicken foums and all they could do was complain that I didn't give them an error # because I didn't get one duh!
So next time I press cancel and got error #67108866 no respones for anyone from quicken. I have no issues in XP so I can only assume it something different that Microsoft did with vista to cause this error.
What ticks me off is Intuit seems not to care if their product work or is just blowing it off as user error! I been using quicken since quicken 2000. I use it for online banking with Bank of America.
Called my bank they told me they weren't supporting Vista yet. 2007-07-13 10:14:39 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista. Running Vista Home Premium - Couple minor issues to report. 1) No sound on intial opening. 2) Keeps prompting me to update - If I update, the program stops working and won't open. The only way to fix it is to reinstall it. Trying to uninstall it doesn't work either however.
I have to use the Windows Cleanup Utility and then reinstall. So now I don't update. I try and check the box that says 'Don't Remind Me Again.' , but it keeps on reminding me.
Minor annoyances, but otherwise works fine.
Since you reinstalled Quicken 2007, you need to make sure that you have all available bug fixes (patches) installed. Please see below for details. When you said 'restore', did you mean 'restore from a Quicken Backup taken prior to rebuilding your system' or did you just simply 'copy only the.QDF file (e.g., QDATA.QDF) to a USB-stick and then copy it back to the hard drive'? In Quicken versions prior to 2010, the 'Quicken data file' consisted of several separate files with different file types. So, if your data file is QDATA.QDF you need to also have all other files named QDATA.
A backup file created by the Backup function in Quicken contains all these needed files and, if you use the Quicken Restore function, should restore properly, recreating the individual files. Old Quicken Patch downloads 2000+ When running an old, unsupported Quicken version you may no longer be able to download bug fixes (patch files) directly from Intuit.
However, they are still available here: If clicking on Help / About Quicken does not show the highest Release number available for your version (year), as shown on this webpage, download and install the appropriate file(s) from the link above. I just installed Quicken 2007 Deluxe on Windows 10 and here is what I found. First off it seems that Quicken Inc has put some old URLs (and the folders they point to) back in service, because during the install I selected to allow it to do the update and it did download and install R5 (the latest patch install). Past that what I found is a program that doesn't work properly in Windows 10.
Every time I tried to backup to an external USB drive it it hung or crashed. I was able to backup to a local drive, but not restore from it. Basically it looks like just browsing for folders/files doesn't work right.
![]() Quicken 2007 On Windows 10
I had similar experiences trying to run Validate. Interesting enough when I tried to run Quicken in Windows XP compatibility mode it crashed even more often. So you seem to have had better luck than I did. My personal recommendation is to update to version of Quicken that is compatible with Windows 10 or maybe run a Virtual machine that is running Windows XP to run Quicken 2007. If you still want to pursue running Quicken 2007 on Windows 10 I suggest that you simply not use Quicken's backup/restore. First off all it is doing is copying your data files to the backup disk.
So a 'restore' is nothing more than copying the data files back to your hard drive. Note make sure you copy all the parts of the data file.QDF,.QPH. And if you use attachments you need to copy the folder that belongs to this data set.
For instance if you data set is called '2007' you would have 2007.QDF and Attach/2007. But more to the point you should not only be backing up your Quicken files, you should be backing up all your important files. So if you are doing that properly if need be you can restore them using that procedure. I'm not sure if you can use Starter version or not, coming from Basic. The Starter version has a restricted set of account types and features.
And if your current data file has one of those restricted account types in it, it will refuse to allow you to run. Here is there comparison, and at the end of this I will put what I have found in some of my testing of it. But I need to warn you that there is a currently a big roadblock with Quicken 2016 R8. This latest patch release broke the conversion from Quicken 2008 and older data files. What the current workaround is after buying Quicken 2016 contacting Quicken support and they can give you a Quicken 2014 install to do the conversion with. And then you would install Quicken 2016. But note that you probably can get Quicken a Amazon.com for cheaper.
Also given that you have gone this long without downloading the other possibility is to buy an older version on E-Bay. You can get them for really cheap and there is a bonus for people that are not going to download. Starting In Quicken 2014 they added an 'Intuit Id', which is used to log into the servers. And this and the forced registration starting in Quicken 2015 has caused a lot of people a lot of headaches.
So if I was you I would probably go with Quicken 2013. It is new enough that works fine with Windows 10, but avoids the Intuit Id. In fact you probably can go as low as Quicken 2010. I jumped from Quicken 2007 to 2010, way back when I was pleasantly surprise with it. I should also note that they changed the budget in Quicken 2012, so if you rely on it, you should just know that it is different.
Some people like it, and some don't. Note just installed Quicken 2013 on my Windows 10 test machine, and it installed and download/installed the latest patch release (the download took a real long time). I tried the things that usually fail on a new Operating system (except of scanning, which I don't have), printing, backup/restore. Backup/restore fine to disk and USB drive. Printing to my network laser printer fine. Printing to Quicken's PDF printer crashes, but this is 'common'.
Instead use one built into Windows 10. 'Microsoft Print to PDF' This worked fine. I decided to try Quicken 2010 too. Interesting enough Quicken 2010 wasn't able to download its latest patch release. I got it from my website: It behaves the same as Quicken 2013, except that the Quicken PDF printer actually worked! Notes about Quicken 2013 starter version (most likely mostly applies to older starter versions too, except for details of budgets) Second install dialog shown to the user it makes it very clear that the starter version can not convert data files from other versions of Quicken.
It states: Why can’t I convert my data file? Quicken Starter Edition doesn’t support the advanced features found in other version of Quicken. Because of this, data files created in other versions can’t be used with Quicken Starter Edition. Please note that Quicken Starter Edition will actually go through the process of a data file conversion, but you will not be able to use it, when it is finished. Possible account types: (Note “Get Start” makes them create a checking account like it or not, after that the account bar expands and they should be able to see the “Add an Account” button, it is collapsed up to this point) Checking Credit Card Savings Cash Notice no asset or liability accounts so no loans and such, and of course no investment kind of operations. (Default for downloaded transactions is to put them automatically the register with the blue dot/review system, and not user the Downloaded Transactions review system).
It has the tabs Home, Spending, Bills, Planning, Mobile & Alerts, and Tips & Tutorials. There is no way to turn off tabs. The Home tab has “See Where You Money Goes”, “Stay On Top of Monthly Bills”, and “Budget Your Spending” Budget does not include the 'Annual View' display, only the “Graph View” one.
(Note the “Graph View” is normally by month, but can show other times like year to date. But you can only change values in the by month setting.) So you have to setup/view your budget one month at a time, but you can setup a yearly budget.
The reports will span a year. Also you can 'extend' the budget past the end of the year, in both directions (past and future). No attachments.
No export/import of QXF files (Quicken Transfer format). No 'classic menus' option. No Tax Planner No Debt Reduction No Life Planner No Tax Center No Savings Goals No multiple currency support No Investing or Property & Debt tab. No support for importing MS Money data files.
Reports of course don’t have anything to do with investing and such. I have not looked at all the reports, but the “basic” ones seem to be there including the “Tax Schedule” and “Tax Summary” (no other tax reports). No tagsOptions for upgrading: What Quicken is best for you? Add Retirement & Other Planning Tools (Deluxe) Add More Investing & Tax Tools (Premier) Add Business Tools (H&B) Add Rental Property Tools (RPM) NOTE: I put in the versions of Quicken, they are not on the menu the user sees.
Please note that the videos that do the demos and such show what would be in Quicken Deluxe and above. So the user might get the impression looking at them there should be more then is in the Starter version.

The Good Quicken 2007 Premier has the ability to connect to more than 4,300 financial institutions; a simplified interface; one-step account updates; a calendar that spells out your daily financial status; pop-up insights of transaction details; an affordable online backup; storage for images of receipts and invoices; scanner support; local encryptionof your data; Windows and Mac versions; and free, online-help chat. The Bad Despite support for thousands of banks and creditors, Quicken 2007 couldn't import data from a particular checking account from a national bank. Also, its phone support is pricey. The Bottom Line Intuit Quicken 2007 Premier offers a thorough overhaul of its interface, as well as useful new features and conveniences that other financial software products can't match.
Quicken
Visit for details. Quicken Premier 2007 Intuit has given Quicken 2007 a fresh face that makes it easier to see where your money's going without having to click around the program. This money management tool eliminates the busy register from its prior home page and now opens to a screen with three big boxes displaying money: In, Out, and What's Left. Rather than focusing on Quicken's budgeting features, which require time to set up, Intuit intends for version 2007 to lets you view a running balance of your finances at all times. In addition, a beefed up calendar and online backup provide added convenience and security.
Quicken 2007 works with PCs running Windows 2000 and newer editions (with 128 MB of RAM recommended). On the other hand, works for Windows XP only.
We reviewed Quicken Premier 2007, which costs $69.99 and includes investment monitoring tools. An edition that's one step above it is the $89.99 Quicken Home & Business 2007, which tracks, offers custom invoicing, and handles accounts payable and receivables (but turn to to manage the ins and outs of a small business with multiple employees). You can also check out $29.99 Quicken Basic, but it lacks the electronic check storage, 401(k) and IRA tracking, as well as the assistance with tax deductions that the Deluxe version provides for $10 more. Mac users can pick the $59.99 edition (equivalent to Deluxe for PCs) for OS 10.3.9 and up. Installation of Quicken Premier 2007 took about five minutes in our tests on a Windows XP machine. Unlike the subtle changes to Microsoft Money 2007, Quicken 2007's makeover is obvious once you open the program. We like the new, tabbed layout, which helps organize information without causing clutter; you can customize the page to display the elements you use most.
The Money In, Out, and What's Left boxes feature prominently. You can click those boxes to pop up a mini window of recent income and expense details. Quicken Premier 2007's new design is a big departure from earlier versions, although you can customize the home page to more closely resemble the old-school style. We like the bold display of our expenses, income, and money leftover. Quicken 2007's left-hand navigation bar offers links to Business Information, Cash Flow, an Investing Center, and Property and Debt data, as well as a snapshot of your net worth. Links along the bottom detail bills and deposits, spending pie and bar charts, and a revamped calendar.
From the calendar, just click a bill to view details or to pay it. We found it motivating (or perhaps depressing) to see a running tally of our credit card debt spelled out in glaring red each day. Intuit designed Quicken 2007 for faster setup out of the box and to let you synchronize multiple financial accounts with one click. Setup can be a snap if you've already registered for online accounts with your financial institutions; just share those logins and passwords with Quicken. Quicken 2007 lets you import data from about 4,300 large and small financial institutions-more than a tenfold increase from Quicken 2006-including banks, creditors, brokerages, and 401(k) providers. Quicken's PIN vault locks away your various passwords for connected banking and other financial accounts so that they're inaccessible outside the program.
When we upgraded to 2007 from Quicken 2006, our historical account details appeared seamlessly, and Quicken prompted us to update by retrieving the latest data online. Unfortunately, when we installed Quicken 2007 from just past midnight on another computer and with different accounts, it was unable to connect to the national bank that we use for our staple checking account. At first, we thought this would force us to turn to Microsoft Money to categorize our daily spending habits. However, we learned that our bank was performing 'scheduled maintenance' at that time, and the process worked fine the next day. And as with any software that retrieves information from third-party sources online, Quicken's details are only as up to date as the data from your financial institutions, which can lag by several days depending on how your bank works. Therefore, bills that we had already paid appeared in red as overdue. Luckily, Quicken allows you to manually list your planned expenses and then check them off later when they clear digitally.
Since this review first posted, many users of Quicken 2007 have complained that it crashes frequently. Working with a Quicken file containing 15 years of data, our PC locked up when we tried accessing online investment information. Intuit acknowledged that users with automatically scheduled transactions were experiencing similar problems, and it released patches in October to remedy this. If you're using Quicken while connected to the Internet, an update message should appear to notify you of such patches. If you lack an Internet connection, you can receive replacement CDs in the mail by contacting the company's technical support. We're pleased that Intuit now gives you the option to pay $10 per year for 100MB worth of online backup-an affordable must that can safeguard your data in case of a catastrophe. If you choose that option, Quicken reminds you to back up online every third time you use the software.
Microsoft Money, by contrast, asks to back up your accounts each time you use the program, and it demands that you use a Microsoft ID to do so. At least Quicken 2007 gives you the option to install the app locally and not connect online.
I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and all other apps work and print great. System has 2GB RAM and AMD CPU. I continue to experiance the same issue(s) and lack of help from Quicken support as posted above w/ not being able to print. I'm a PC tech by trade and I've come up w/ a BIG FAT 0 for answers to this no printing issue from Quicken Support. I've found 2 work arounds for the printing issue. #1, IF you can get quicken to install correctly you will get a Quicken PDF Printer installed in your printers directory. Print your file to the quicken PDF Printer and save the file to the PC.
Then launch Adobe Reader and print the file. This is extra time consuming, but works. #2, I have been able to print from Quicken to a network printer. I've tried this in multiple locations and get positive results each time. While not all users have a network printer to use setting up a USB Print server is pretty quick and painless.
Depending on where you're at you should be able to call your local in home tech support for this assistance. The hardware for this will cost you some $$ though. 2007-08-18 09:44:08 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista. I had quicken 2007 DeLuxe installed in my computer with windows vista home premium. It was working OK. My Hard drive crashed. I purchased a new computer and I tried to install the Quicken into it.
At first it was going in, then when it asked to be Up-dated, I clicked on that. That killed the program from completing the installation. It gets stopped from installing. The wizard stops it.
I tried to uninstall and it will not remove whatever has been installed. I tried Quicken clean and it doesnot work. I tried to follow all kinds of the removing processes and nothing seems to work. Looks like I am stuck without the Quicken program.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 2007-12-16 10:22:35 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista 64 Bit (x8664).
I been using Quicken 2007 Deluxe on Windows XP and when I loaded it on my new computer With Vista Business it does not open at all. I have contacted Intuit and have got nothing but a run around. I can't even talk to a human. They say to go on line, fill out an unbeleivable amount of repetitive questions and they will return your call in ten minutes.
They sent me and email saying they tried to call me but got no answer. I have callwaiting and caller ID and there were no calls from them.
So, the only conclusion I can come to, is that they have no idea how to fix the problem but they do know hos to strecth the truth. I am thinking of trying MS Money. Does anybody know if I can transfer my Quicken 2007 data to MS Money or if MS Money will operate on Vista Tom Fleming 2008-01-12 11:40:43 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista.
Helping a friend here with this one. She was using the Quicken 2007 Deluxe when an automatic update window popped up asking to upgrade or patch the program. After clicking yes and allowing the update to run she returned to find the program inoperable. Checking I found the start-up qw.exe file to be missing from the computer. Vista unistall of Quicken starts but does not complete and seems to disappear into limbo or something. Using the original disk yields options to modify, repair or unistall, none of which will work.
Right now I am at a loss as what to do. 2008-04-08 10:36:38 - Operating System/Rating: Windows Vista 64 Bit (x8664). Ijust spent an hour trying to get the install of Quicken 2007 premier working on my windows vista ultimate 64 bit OS. First, after installing Quicken, immediately update to release 5. In my install I did this outside the application choosing to manually download the release and then right click 'run as adminstrator'. You can get a list of releases from quicken through this link: After sucessful update to R5, i was prompted to register the product.
This is where the problems began. I would enter my ID and Password and then try to update. When I clicked 'finish' quicken crashes. I then noticed that i was getting a webpage popup upon finshing my registration. Make sure to check IE for the quicken prompt page.
If you dont go to the IE page Quicken just hangs waiting for a response from you. I had the idea to reset my password. Upon doing so, i was able to register without a hitch.
Hope this helps someone. 2008-05-07 17:14:30 - Operating System/Rating: Windows XP. I purchased a new computer with Vista Home Premium. My old computer was running on Windows XP. I purchased the Vista-XP Transfer cable, and transferred all my files using this process. It was long, but efective. I then used a beta program for the cable to transfer compatible programs.
Among others, Quicken 2007 transferred effecively. I could run Quicken 2007 smoothly, to include downloads from banks and credit cards.
Then without warning, when I tried to download financial data, it quit accepting the data. When I go to the bank or credit card, I get a Quicken Install window, which eventually stops and ask for the Quicken 2007 CD, looking for the Quicken 2007.msi file. Since I updated quicken 2006 to 2007 online, I don't have the install CD. Of course, the Quicken 2008 CD does not work. I am unable to download financial date directly, which is a pain in the !
I can always print transactions and then manually enter them into the files, but, let's get real!!! I do believe that I had a Quicken Window Update, and I accepted the update. Perhaps that's what th problem is. 2009-04-13 11:41:36 - Operating System/Rating: Windows XP 64 Bit (x8664).
